reimagining media.

empowering a new generation.

about
Community Media Project

The Community Media Project (CMP) is a charitable initiative launched by ooPoll, Inc., a technology company creating ethical engagement tools that prioritize people over profit. While ooPoll develops platforms that foster more conscious connections between businesses and consumers, CMP extends that mission into the public sphere, educating and equipping the next generation to think critically about how media shapes culture, belief, and behavior.

The name Community Media Project reflects a simple truth: social media is no longer very social. What began as a tool for connection has often eroded real community and civility. CMP exists to help reclaim media as a force for comity, conscience, and connection, imagining a new kind of media that centers people, relationships, and shared responsibility.

Founded by Francis Lyons, a veteran of the media industry who witnessed firsthand its transformation under the pressures of technology and commercialization, CMP invites students, creators, and professionals to explore how we can rebuild media with integrity, dialogue and social resiliency at its core.

what we do

campus conversations

We visit colleges and universities across the nation, leading interactive talks that unpack the history of traditional media, the ethics of modern storytelling, and the societal consequences of attention-based systems. Each event inspires dialogue about new pathways for media that inform, connect, and empower.

community media podcast

Our podcast brings together creators, technologists, and cultural thinkers to discuss how media can evolve with conscience. Through honest conversation, we uncover emerging models and highlight organizations making tangible shifts toward ethical engagement.

collaboration & research

CMP collaborates with educators, media professionals, and students to develop open-access resources that promote media literacy, digital ethics, and responsible innovation, because transformation begins with awareness.

the vision

We envision a future where media and technology nurture understanding rather than division. One where creativity and integrity coexist; where the next generation is empowered not only to consume media, but to shape it.
